Frequently asked questions

Everything gold and jewelry store owners ask us about Durra.

Why these questions

These are the questions gold and jewelry store owners send us most often. If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it and add it to this page.

The basics

What Durra is and who it is for.

  • What exactly is Durra?

A cloud management system for gold and jewelry stores. It manages inventory by weight and karat, sales and invoices, customers and suppliers, and branches, and produces reports and calculated profit.

  • Does Durra replace my point of sale?

Durra is not a point of sale — it is a management system. If you already run a till, Durra integrates with it and makes everything it records show up in your inventory and reports.

  • How long does it take to get running in a working shop?

Creating the account and store details is quick. The biggest step is entering your pieces or opening balance, and we review that with you before real selling starts so no figure begins from an error.

Inventory and gold

Weights, karats and value.

  • How does the system handle different karats?

Every piece carries its own karat, and the system calculates its value from its weight and the gram rate in effect. You can view stock aggregated by weight or broken down by karat.

  • Can I enter an opening balance?

Yes. You start with an opening balance where you record the pieces already in the shop with their weight and karat, or just a total in grams, and the system builds on it.

  • What happens to stock on a return or a loss?

You record a return or a loss as an inventory movement, so the balance is restored or reduced, and the reason is written into the activity log.

  • Can I see which pieces have not sold?

Yes. The inventory report shows pieces that have been in for a long time without selling, so you can decide to discount them or pull them.

Sales and accounting

Invoices, profit and debts.

  • Does it support selling by gram and by piece?

Yes. You can sell a weight of gold at the gram rate, a specific piece at its price, or both on one invoice.

  • How is profit calculated?

From the difference between the selling price and the recorded cost of the piece, after expenses. One honest caveat: profit is only as accurate as the purchase cost you enter.

  • Does it support deferred and partial payment?

Yes. An invoice can be marked paid, partly paid or deferred, with the remaining amount tracked on the customer and flagged when it is overdue.

  • Are the invoices compliant with local invoicing rules?

The system supports an invoice carrying store, customer, piece and tax details. Confirm your final compliance with your accountant or the relevant authority in your country before relying on the format.

Branches and permissions

Users and access control.

  • Can staff sign in from a phone?

Yes, Durra runs in the browser. Give each employee an account with their permissions and they can work from any device.

  • How do I know who ran a transaction or changed a price?

The activity log records every action with its date and author. One user cannot alter another user’s transaction without leaving a visible trace.

  • What happens when an employee leaves?

You disable their account immediately. They are out of the system and do not return unless you grant access again.

  • Can Durra connect to my till or another system?

Yes, we provide an integration API in the plans that include it. We agree the integration scope with you based on your system.
